Woman accused of stalking Shawnee police officer

Updated: 2013-10-29T16:05:00Z

A woman previously convicted of stalking a Shawnee police officer is facing a new stalking case involving the officer.

Carla Jean Smallwood, 49, of Shawnee, is charged in Johnson County District Court with a one count of reckless stalking. The charge is a felony because of her prior conviction.

She was arrested Monday on the new charge, which alleges she stalked the officer from Aug. 5 to Sept. 1.

Bond is set at $25,000, and a judge ordered a mental health evaluation as a condition of her posting bond. She also was ordered to have no contact with the officer and to stay more than 100 yards away from his residence and place of employment.

According to Johnson County court records, Smallwood pleaded guilty to stalking the officer in August 2012 and was placed on probation for one year.
