Liberty North High School
Awards won: Eight students from the Liberty North Model United Nations team won individual honors at the Washington University conference.
Earning Best Delegate awards were Alex Klein and Raj Patel; Outstanding Delegate, Skyler Allen and Quinn Mars.
Austin Casel received an honorable mention. Kelsey Barnes, Kendall Stockard and Robert Trout were awarded verbal commendations.
Kansas State University
Veterinary medicine: Jessica Hayes of Parkville is one of 21 undergraduate students formally accepted into the 2013 class of early admission scholars program for the College of Veterinary Medicine.
The program recruits academically qualified undergraduates who want to study veterinary medicine. After they are accepted, the students complete 64 hours of pre-professional requirements and must maintain at least a 3.4 grade-point average.
The scholars are all freshmen and represent the top five percent of students in their class.
Park Hill School District
Talent identified: Three seventh-graders earned Grand Recognition in the Duke University Talent Identification Program.
They are Lawrence Suba from Congress Middle School and Alexandra Lindsay and Robert Showers from Lakeview Middle School.
The students were selected as academically talented based on college-entrance exam scores. They qualified for Grand Recognition by scoring at the highest levels on the ACT or SAT test, which measures the aptitude of college-bound high school seniors.
Grand winners were invited to attend a ceremony Duke University in Durham, N.C.
St. Pius X High School
Prospective students: The school will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at 1500 N.E. 42nd Terrace in Kansas City, North.
