Former Tiger Chase Daniel loses bet to Chiefs teammate and former South Carolina kicker

Chiefs kicker Ryan Succop had conflicting emotions Saturday night. As a proud former South Carolina Gamecock, he was thrilled that his alma mater rallied from 17 points down and knocked off Mizzou on the road.

But as a kicker, he found it unfortunate that South Carolina’s win came at the expense of Tigers kicker Andrew Baggett, who botched a chip-shot field goal in double overtime that would’ve prolonged the game.

This week, however, it was back to business at Chiefs headquarters … and time to collect on a bet Succop had made with Chiefs backup quarterback, and Mizzou grad, Chase Daniel.

The loser of their friendly wager on Saturday night’s game would wear the T-shirt and ballcap of the winner’s alma mater — which Daniel begrudgingly did, as Succop’s midday Twitter post attested.

“I hated to see the game end like that,” Succop said Sunday after the Chiefs beat Cleveland at Arrowhead Stadium. “It’s probably the kicker in me.”

As much as Succop disliked the outcome in Columbia, Mo., Daniel liked it even less.

But he was a good sport, even in defeat.

“It hurts,” Daniel said Sunday, “but we’re still in first place (in the SEC East).”
