In the Super Bowl era, 20 teams have started 8-0, and all 20 qualified for the playoffs. Twelve of those 20 clubs advanced to the Super Bowl and eight won the Super Bowl.
Ive never been 8-0; Ive never been 4-0, said veteran Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson, the clubs elder statesman. Ive seen everything the good, the bad and the ugly, but thats why our character is so strong, because of what weve been through.
Weve been working our rears off. I dont want to say we deserve to be 8-0, but this is what it is, and were riding with it.
The Chiefs also became the fourth team since 1970 to allow 17 points or less in each of their first eight games of a season.
