The suspect, a 21-year-old man, was in a residence in the 500 block of Cypress and refused to come out. The standoff began about 6:22 p.m. and lasted until about 9:30 p.m. police said.
The man was wanted by police in connection with the shooting death of another man in early Friday at a bar at 3019 E. 12th St., police said.
Before the shooting an altercation occurred inside Las Plebes tavern and an employee called 911 at 12:02 a.m., police said. Meanwhile, a man involved in the altercation went outside, retrieved a gun and came back inside, where he shot two men.
One victim, a man in his 20s, was hit in the chest and died on his way to the hospital. The second victim, a man in his 40s, was shot in the leg.
By the time officers arrived, the gunman was gone.
No charges had been filed against the man police took into custody Friday night. Police said they expect charges later Saturday.
