Life sentence issued in south KC killing

Updated: 2013-10-24T22:43:25Z

A Kansas City man was sentenced Thursday to life in prison without parole for the 2009 killing of a man in south Kansas City.

A Jackson County judge also sentenced 23-year-old Derrick C. Bluett to a consecutive 20-year sentence for armed criminal action.

A jury in August found Bluett guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of 20-year-old Maurice West at 116th Street and Holiday Drive.
