Derek Meeks

SCHOOL: Mill Valley

YEAR: Sophomore

SPORT: Cross country

Meeks was crowned the Kaw Valley League champion on Oct. 17 after blitzing the field to win the conference race by 26 seconds. Mill Valley runners occupied the top six spots in the five-kilometer race to also take home the team trophy, its seventh straight first-place finish this season. It was the third individual victory this season for Meeks.

Emily Robinson

SCHOOL: Lee's Summit

YEAR: Junior

SPORT: Softball

Robinson fired a no-hitter to help Lee's Summit upend Truman 1-0 in the Missouri Class 4 quarterfinals on Saturday. She struck out eight batters to knock out the defending state champions. Robinson is 14-3 with a 0.72 earned run average this season and will take the mound at 1 p.m. Friday when the Tigers battle Parkway North in the Missouri Class 4 state semifinals.
