Temperatures are expected to drop to or below freezing across the Kansas City region Tuesday night, bringing the chance for a hard freeze over northern and central Missouri — and widespread frost elsewhere, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Mo.
But first, highs Tuesday will be in the upper 40s across northern Missouri to around 60 degrees across west-central Missouri and east-central Kansas.
Then the temperatures will drop Tuesday night. Overnight lows are expected to range from 30 to 34 degrees. Frost is expected to develop between 1 and 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
People should make plans to protect any sensitive vegetation.
Subfreezing temperatures are likely Thursday and Friday.
