Yet another book about the Missouri/Kansas rivalry has hit bookshelves.

This time, Sports Illustrated senior editor Mark Godich has penned “Tigers vs. Jayhawks: From the Civil War to the Battle for No. 1,” which focuses on the 2007 matchup between No. 2 Kansas and No. 3 Missouri at Arrowhead Stadium.

An excerpt was featured in Sports Illustrated’s Sept. 30 edition.

Godich will be in Kansas City to promote the book Tuesday with two appearances.

He will speak at the Tiger Club of Kansas City’s weekly meeting at 11:30 a.m. at the Westport Flea Market. Chiefs quarterback Chase Daniel, who led Missouri to that win against Kansas, also will be at that meeting.

Meanwhile, the official book launch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Kansas City Public Library’s Plaza branch. Former Tigers tight end Martin Rucker and former Jayhawks wide receiver Kerry Meier also will be on hand to discuss the game and the book.

Godich also will appear from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Rally House in Independence.

The book is available in local bookstores as well as at amazon.com and ascendbooks.com ($18.95).
