The 2013 Fall Parade of Homes just ended, and local builder Summit Custom Homes emerged with its arms full of awards. The Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City hosted the Parade Awards Ceremony at the Marriott Briarcliff on Oct. 2, and nearly 300 members and guests gathered to celebrate.

The Parade, which wrapped up on Oct. 13, gave people something to dream about: the idea of owning a new home. There were 269 homes on the Parade throughout the metropolitan area, making it the largest Fall Parade since 2008.
Award categories included the Pick of the Parade Award, based on quality of materials used, workmanship and overall construction of the home, as well as the Distinctive Plan and Design Award, based on the home’s architecture, floor plan and interior design.
Summit Custom Homes took home a total of 10 awards at the ceremony; three for the Pick of the Parade and seven for Distinctive Plan and Design.
Summit Custom Homes has a trophy case in its Lee’s Summit-based office to display the awards they’ve received throughout the years since its start in early 2002, and a section of its website is dedicated to listing those awards.
“We’re proud of the awards,” said Kevin Stucker, vice president of sales and marketing for Summit Custom Homes. “We work hard for them, and they validate that hard work and reinforce that we’re doing something right. We offer homeowners exceptional homes in exceptional communities and our goal is to deliver outstanding value, innovative design and extraordinary quality. Our entire team is focused on delivering on this goal.”
Summit is known for its high-efficiency homes built with exceptional standard features and for its relentless dedication to customer satisfaction. Its entries in this year’s Parade of Homes were no exception: each one was built using Summit’s proprietary Green Build Advantage program and each features a lengthy list of impressive features.
Among Summit’s standard features are stucco and stone veneer front elevations; three-car garages; wide-plank hardwood flooring in all main-floor traffic areas; island kitchens with custom-made designer cabinetry; rubbed-copper wrought-iron stair spindles; spa master bathrooms with tiled flooring and oversized tiled walk-in showers with dual shower heads; premium Delta plumbing fixtures; stainless steel GE kitchen appliances; and an industry-leading 10-year structural home warranty, to name a few.
Such attention to detail and use of quality appliances and decorative fixtures are only a part of what make Summit Custom Homes so special, however.
Summit’s focus is on building finely crafted, energy-efficient homes featuring innovative floor plans and unique decorative features, all at an exceptional value. Summit Custom Homes’ Green Build Advantage incorporates the latest building science to deliver significantly increased energy efficiency rated at up to 30 percent more efficient than other homes.
Healthier indoor air quality is achieved by using formaldehyde-free insulation; low or no VOC (volatile organic compound) paints, glues and sealants where available; a passive radon remediation system; sealed air distribution ductwork; and a high-particulate MERV-11 furnace filter. This all translates into decreased utility bills and, most importantly, a more comfortable living environment for your family.
“It’s an exciting time to be in the home-building industry, so this was just a really fun Parade,” said Megan Fratzke, marketing manager for Summit Custom Homes. “This is something we look forward to every year, and it is such an exciting honor to be recognized with these awards and accolades. We have a hard-working, professional, experienced team and exceptional trade and Realtor partners who have dedicated themselves to making this a great company. We also have our homeowners to thank. We know that we are in the business of bringing dreams to reality, and we don’t take that lightly. It is our mission to exceed our customer’s expectations. Our homeowners are what matter the most, and they hold us to a higher standard.”
