'San Zusi:' Mexican fans give thanks to Sporting KC player

Updated: 2013-10-17T17:22:25Z

A group of Mexican soccer fans presented gifts to U.S. national team and Sporting Kansas City midfielder Graham Zusi on Thursday, two days after Zusi's goal kept Mexico alive for World Cup qualification.

Zusi's equalizer in the 92nd minute of the U.S. national team’s 3-2 victory over Panama on Tuesday helped Mexico finish fourth in CONCACAF qualification, putting El Tri in a two-leg playoff against New Zealand for a World Cup berth. Without Zusi's goal, Mexico would have been eliminated.

Here are some Twitter posts of photos taken after Sporting's practice session Thursday, including the presentation of a "San Zusi" plaque.
