Updated: 2013-10-16T20:28:01Z

A knife-wielding robber attacked a homeless man in a wheelchair early Wednesday near the Country Club Plaza and stole his duffel bag and laptop computer.

The 50-year-old victim told police he was sleeping about 1:10 a.m. on the corner of 47th Street and J.C. Nichols Parkway when a stranger came up behind him, pressed a knife to his neck and demanded his belongings. The victim pushed the knife away and the robber knocked the victim to the ground. The robber kicked the victim in the ribs and stole the victim’s blue duffel bag, which contained his medication, and a black bag containing his laptop.

Security officers at St. Luke’s Hospital saw the robber near 43rd Street and Broadway. Police searched the area and found the victim’s belongings stashed behind some bushes near the hospital. Officers then returned the items to the victim. Police could not find the robber.
