A man intent on robbing a hotel near the Country Club Plaza early Tuesday failed after the desk clerk ran into a back office without coughing up any dough.
So the robber, who acted as if he had a gun, instead stole the wallet of a cab driver who happened to be standing at the front desk, police said.
The holdup occurred about 3:45 a.m. at the Marriott at 4445 Main St. The cab driver, a 46-year-old man from Overland Park, was not hurt. The robber fled.
