A Kansas City man has been charged with slashing a jogger with a knife last week in Mill Creek Park near the Country Club Plaza.

Terance E. Green, 45, was charged in Jackson County Circuit Court with first-degree aggravated assault and armed criminal action. The victim suffered three severe lacerations to his buttocks, authorities said.

The victim told police that he was running in the park about 12:50 p.m. Friday when a man jumped out from between two trees and said, “Want a piece of me?”

The man said no and began running faster. He later told police he could feel the man striking him from behind. The victim and two people who witnessed the assault later identified Green as the attacker, according to court documents. One of the witnesses said Green had been walking around the park screaming before the attack.

Green was described as being “belligerent and cursing” when detectives tried to speak to him in detention.

Prosecutors requested a bond of $150,000 for Green.
