Bill Self parodies Ron Burgundy: Watch out, Will Ferrell

We bet Chrysler could have gotten an even better (cheaper?) deal hiring KU basketball coach Bill Self instead of Will Ferrell to be Ron Burgundy in their new Dodge Durango commercials.

In case you missed it because you were one of the thousands of people locked out at Late Night in the Phog last week, here’s the coach’s parody of Will Ferrell’s fictional TV anchorman. It was shown inside Allen Fieldhouse during the annual hoops season kick-off.

And what a fine Ron Burgundy the coach makes in his polyester jacket and porn ‘stache, with a voice “that could make a Wildcat purr” and “suits so fine they’d make Craig Sager look like a hobo.”

“What’s that in my teeth?” he says as he picks food out of his mouth. “Ah, Salty Iguana!”

He is “Anchorman: The Legend of Bill Self.
