A man and woman were charged in Cass County on Tuesday with child endangerment after their seven young children were allegedly left unattended for hours at a time in a filthy motel room in Harrisonville.

Brian David Gregerson and Tammie Gregerson were released on signature bonds, but the children were placed in protective custody.

According to court records, the children were 3 to 12 years old. The older ones had not been in school for more than a week and were described as living in filthy conditions with urine-soiled sheets.

The family reportedly had been evicted from their home, and the parents said they were moving their belongings to a new home in Kansas City.

A neighboring resident at the motel said the parents had left the children unattended for more than 12 hours on at least two occasions, the documents said.

Children’s Division officials said they had previous contacts with the family.
