The poll was voted on by the conference’s coaches, who could not vote for their own team. Oklahoma got five first-place votes and is the preseason favorite. Baylor, which has won the previous three Big 12 titles, was second with three first-place votes. West Virginia, which received the other two first-place votes, and Oklahoma State tied for third.
The Jayhawks, who have reached the NCAA Sweet 16 in consecutive seasons as a double-digit seed, lose three starters heading into this year.
