No surprise: KC police think they’re doing a great job

The first two public hearings held by a blue ribbon commission studying possible changes in the control of Kansas City’s Police Department have been pretty much wastes of time.

A paltry number of panel members has shown up to the meetings.

And current and retired cops, including former chief Jim Corwin, have been about the only “public” to show up.

Their basic message: Hey, we’re doing a great job, so don’t change anything.

Sorry, but that intransigent attitude actually is a big reason control needs to switch from state politicians to local citizens and elected officials.

The third public hearing starts at 6 tonight at Mohart Multipurpose Center, 3200 Wayne Ave.
