A woman killed in an exchange of gunfire between occupants of two cars in Kansas City was identified Monday morning as 35-year-old Ayanna Saunders.

Saunders was one of four people shot in the Friday night incident near 28th Street and Bales Avenue. Injuries to the other three shooting victims were considered serious, police said Monday.

The shooting was reported about 9:50 p.m. Friday. Police officers on their way to the Bales shooting scene saw a car crashed at 27th Street and Indiana Avenue. They found Saunders and a man with gunshot wounds in the wrecked vehicle.

A third shooting victim was found at the Bales scene, and the fourth victim was dropped off by private vehicle at a hospital.

Police said that it appeared that after shots were exchanged at the Bales location, one car left the area and crashed nearby on Indiana. The second vehicle also left the scene and dropped the victim off at the hopsital.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
