Police identify 8-year-old girl killed when struck by ice cream truck

Police identified the 8-year-old girl who died Friday after she ran in front of an ice cream truck as Lillian E. Simon of Kansas City.

Police, who released the girl’s identity Sunday night, had said the girl was running after the ice cream truck about 5 p.m. near Northeast 108th Terrace and North Harrison Street in Kansas City, North, when the accident occurred.

The girl ran in front of the truck and was struck, police said. She was rushed to a hospital, where she died from her injuries.
