Updated: 2013-10-05T02:10:59Z

Drivers headed into and out of downtown Kansas City on Interstate 35 should expect delays Saturday morning.

Bridge construction will reduce the highway to one lane in each direction from 6 to 11 a.m.

Northbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane between Cambridge Circle and Jarboe Street. Southbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane between 27th Street and Cambridge Circle.

The work is part of the $40 million project to redeck, rehabilitate or replace 18 bridges in the downtown area this construction season.

All bridge construction is expected to be completed by mid-December.
