Players of the week

High school football players of the week (Oct. 4)

Updated: 2013-10-04T01:04:00Z

Missouri: Logan Prins

SCHOOL: Rockhurst

YEAR: Senior

A senior safety, Prins forced three turnovers in a 27-6 win last week against Blue Springs South. They were each timely plays. He intercepted two passes and forced a fumble, which he also recovered. All three turnovers ended Blue Springs South drives that had reached Rockhurst territory. Two of the three halted drives in the red zone. Prins also made six tackles.

Kansas: Chance Nelson

SCHOOL: Blue Valley

YEAR: Senior

Nelson carried the ball only 11 times in a 56-10 win against Blue Valley North, but he certainly made the most of his opportunities. He rushed for 201 yards and scored three touchdowns — all in the first half. The Tigers moved into a first-place tie in the Eastern Kansas League with the victory. They will play host to Blue Valley Northwest on Friday.
