Westbound I-435 reopens after crash creates rush hour back-up

Updated: 2013-09-30T13:55:37Z

All lanes of westbound Interstate 435 in southern Kansas City have reopened after a crash closed two lanes for most of Monday morning’s rush hour.

Two cars collided about 7 a.m. near the 103rd Street exit and forced the two right lanes of westbound I-435 to be closed while crews cleaned up the wreckage, according to the Kansas City Scout system.

Traffic quickly backed up on I-435 beyond Bannister Road. Traffic slowed to 5 mph near the crash.

On westbound Interstate 470, traffic was slowed to about 19 mph near View High Drive, according to Kansas City Scout.

All lanes of I-435 reopened shortly after 8:40 a.m. Traffic was heavy and speeds remained slow through the area shortly before 9 a.m.
