The unbeaten St. James Academy volleyball team has spent the past five seasons dominating in-state competition. A few believe it would fare quite well against out-of-state opponents, as well.

PrepVolleyball.com ranked St. James Academy as the second-best high school volleyball team in the country in this week's 100-team poll, behind only Mercy Academy from Louisville.

St. Thomas Aquinas checked in at No. 100 in the national poll.

St. James Academy, the five-time defending state champions in Kansas, has not even dropped a set this season over 18 matches.

The Thunder, 18-0, won the Tournament of Champions in St. Louis last weekend, sweeping host St. Joseph's Academy in the championship match. St. James Academy will compete in the Blue Springs South Invitational this weekend.

Senior Arianna Person leads the Thunder with 132 kills this season, with sophomore Audriana Fitzmorris (116 kills) and Brie Lewis (111 kills) contributing heavily to the offensive attack. Fitzmorris also has a team-best 63 blocks. Sophomore Jenna Gray has 345 assists as the team's primary setter.
