A 62-year-old St. Joseph was ordered Thursday to spend 42 months in federal prison for her role in allowing immigrants to obtain driver’s license documents to remain illegally in the United States.
Isabel Ramirez Mendoza admitted that she and others escorted more than 100 immigrants to the St. Joseph license office with false documents and in the guise of translators. A former employee of the license office also pleaded guilty to abetting the scheme by issuing licenses to the immigrants.
Mendoza also was ordered to pay $125,000 fine.
