Federal employee from Overland Park accused of stealing from blind co-worker, others

An Overland Park woman who worked for the federal government was indicted this week for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from co-workers, including one who is blind.

Paula M. Seen, 49, is charged in federal court with wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

According to the indictment, Steen stole more than $103,000 from three fellow employees at the Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency on Beacon Drive in Kansas City, where she was an information technology specialist.

Steen allegedly charged $57,693 on credit accounts belonging to a co-worker who is legally blind. She repaid some of that but she also allegedly secured another $48,171 from this same worker.

Steen could be sentenced to 20 years and ordered to forfeit the money.
