Updated: 2013-09-25T22:34:19Z

Brad Burger has resigned as president and chief executive officer of Goodwill of Western Missouri & Easter Kansas.

The organization said Burger, who came here four years ago from Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania, is returning with his family to Pittsburgh. While the resignation took effect immediately, Burger will serve as chief executive emeritus until Nov. 1.

Goodwill’s board said Stefany Williams has been named interim president and chief executive. Williams has been the nonprofit group’s chief financial officer the past two years.

The organization has 18 stores in this region, along with additional donation sites and four GoodWorks service centers. In 2012, about 1.5 million people shopped at its area stores, and about 500,000 donated items.
