Two more youths charged in attack on disabled vet

Updated: 2013-09-26T05:57:23Z

Two more juveniles have been charged in the attack on an elderly disabled veteran in Grandview earlier this month.

That brings the total number charged in the case to 10. Home security video recorded two cases, on Sept. 8 and 10, when a group of youths and young adults robbed the veteran at his home in the 11900 block of Belmont Avenue. They forced their way in and stole firearms and other items. The man also was struck in the head.

Seven youths are charged in Jackson County juvenile court, and two 18-year-old men and an 18-year-old woman are charged in circuit court with robbery, burglary and armed criminal action.

The attacks prompted widespread community outrage. One man was charged with making a terroristic threat to shoot up a Grandview school allegedly because he was angry about the attack.
