Blue Springs coach Kelly Donohoe and Tonganoxie boss Al Troyer were named the Kansas City Chiefs' high school coaches of the week Wednesday after their teams notched big victories on Friday.

In a battle of No. 1 teams, Blue Springs edged Lee's Summit West 42-35 on Friday. The two schools flip-flopped the last nine touchdowns of the game. With the win, the Wildcats moved to the No. 1 spot in The Star's big-class poll. Blue Springs, 4-0, is gunning for a second straight Missouri Class 6 state championship.

Tonganoxie put together a dominate defensive performance during a 28-0 win against previously-unbeaten Piper. The Chieftans won only five games last season — and only one the year before — but they have started 3-0 this fall, earning the No. 5 spot in The Star's small-class poll.
