Obama nominates former KDOT head for federal board

President Barack Obama on Tuesday nominated Deb Miller, who headed the Kansas Department of Transportation under three governors, both Democratic and Republican, to a seat on the Surface Transportation Board.

The three-member board oversees the rail industry.

Miller served as Kansas’ transportation secretary under Govs. Kathleen Sebelius, Mark Parkinson and Sam Brownback.

The position requires Senate approval.
