KC man sentenced in Fairway rape, burglary

Updated: 2013-09-20T21:28:10Z

A Johnson County judge sentenced a Kansas City man to more than 25 years in prison Friday for raping a Fairway woman and burglarizing her home.

Jimmy Dean Crocker, 54, will spend 301 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections, Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe announced Friday.

Crocker did not testify at his August trial, though he previously denied being in Kansas on the day of the July 2012 assault. DNA evidence linked him to the crime, however.

The 67-year-old victim testified that Crocker, whom she had known for years, did handyman work around her home.
