Two injured in early morning gunfire

Two people suffered gunshot wounds in separate shootings early Thursday in Kansas City.

In the first shooting, the victim was seriously injured by gunfire during an argument about 2 a.m. near 12th Street and Belmont Avenue on Kansas City’s east side.

In the second shooting, a man suffered critical injuries about 3:30 a.m. near 36th Street and Chestnut Avenue. He was shot multiple times during a rolling gun battle, according to media reports, and crashed his car into a home at the corner of 36th Street and Chestnut.

Officers found the victim in a wooded area nearby.

Neither of victim’s injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
