Hogan Prep coach Phil Lascuola and Shawnee Mission South coach Ryan Lonergan were named the Kansas City Chiefs' high school coaches of the week Wednesday after their teams scored important victories last week.

Hogan Prep improved to 3-0 with a 22-15 win against Center, avenging a loss to the Yellowjackets in the Missouri Class 3 playoffs last season.

Shawnee Mission South defeated Olathe North 10-7, marking the school's first win against the Eagles in 20 seasons.

Lascuola and Lonergan helped their schools earn a $500 grant, which will be used for player safety equipment or education.

Van Horn coach Jeff Tolbert and Shawnee Mission East coach Dustin Delaney won the inaugural honor last week.
