A civic volunteer and a private school administrator are the 2013 recipients of a Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce award that honors achievements by women.

This year’s Athena leadership awards go to SuEllen Fried, founder of BullySafeUSA, and Susan Leonard, the middle school principal at Pembroke Hill School.

The awards, announced Tuesday, are given for exemplary leadership and time given to the community. This is the 13th year for the awards, which are chosen by a committee of chamber, business and community leaders.
