Handcrafted in KC

Deadleaf Designs, the furniture-making firm in the Crossroads Arts District, hopes to have its furniture line up and running next year. Perhaps then the steel and walnut end table will become ubiquitous, like ferns or tattoos.
Then again, probably not. The table may have simple lines, but it takes Ryan Bennett, owner/designer of Deadleaf Designs, a lot longer to handcraft one than it takes a manufacturer for Ikea to build an end table.
Itll also require a little more from your wallet, as each one costs more than $500, depending on the wood, or a flat $1,000 per pair. But the way its sleek folded metal and wood grain parts contrast with each other make it worth the money.
