One man was killed and another critically injured late Friday in a three-vehicle wreck on I-70 in Hays.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that Douglas R. Feldt, 37, of Hays, died in the crash, which happened at 11:49 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-70.

KHP said Feldt’s Kia SUV had already been struck by a 2003 Dodge Ram truck headed east in the wrong lane of the highway when a semi slammed into the accident site and hit both vehicles.

The man driving the Dodge, 19-year-old Cameron Williams of Great Bend, was flown to Wesley Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition Saturday, a hospital operator said.

The semi driver, a 35-year-old Illinois man was taken to a Hays hospital with possible injuries, KHP said.
