The Kansas City Health Department temporarily closed Swagger Fine Spirits & Food, 8431 Wornall Road, on Wednesday for “excessive roach activity.”

According to the report, the inspector observed multiple live adult and juvenile roaches throughout the side and back kitchen areas.

Swagger — a Waldo favorite that has been featured on the Food Network's “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” — had a total of nine critical violations. Swagger officials will need to request a reinspection and demonstrate that effective pest control measures are in place before they may reopen.

The owner couldn’t be reaced for comment.

The health department also temporarily closed Party Sushi at 4244 N. Oak Trafficway on Wednesday when a cooler was not maintaining cold food within a safe temperature range.

The restaurant was re-inspected and reopened this morning.
