Pedestrian killed on I-70 is identified

Authorities have identified a 42-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle and killed Friday night while crossing Interstate 70. He was Charles W. Mason of Independence.

The incident occurred about 9 p.m. in the eastbound lanes at Blue Ridge Boulevard.

Police said Mason was crossing the highway from north to south when he was struck. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

The driver of the vehicle stopped after the collision. Police said they did not anticipate any charges.
