I’ve already spoken with two readers this morning who were surprised not to find anything today on the website or in the paper about Rep. Emanuel Cleaver’s town hall meeting at Metropolitan Community College, Penn Valley Health Sciences Institute last night.

It may have been the first such meeting by a member of Congress to discuss the current situation in Syria and the possible U.S. response to allegations the country used chemical weapons against its own citizens.

I asked the politics team in the newsroom, and they tell me Steve Kraske attended the meeting. He will be writing about it in a column for Saturday, and it may figure into another story as well.

I agree it’s a topic worthy of at least a mention after the fact, whether or not any real news came out of it.

UPDATE: The online version of the column is up.
