Brian and Natalie Smith plan to open Rockstar Burgers in the West Bottoms later this year.

The restaurant, at 1611 Genessee, is scheduled to be open 24/7 selling burgers, fries and breakfast items.

The former glass shop that previously occupied the first floor space made a $10,000 glass half-circle bar top for the new restaurant and the Smiths will keep the original tin ceilings.

They live in the West Bottoms and operate their other businesses there — Voss Marketing, an internet marketing company; Voss Prints, a custom screen printing company; and Pole Worx, a fitness and events studio. Brian Smith also is co-owner of Kansas City Party Bus.

“I’m up late because of my internet business and used to go to Town Topic a ton, now at least once a week,” he said. “The West Bottoms needs some kind of late night eatery.”
