Police checkpoint Friday night results in 16 DUI arrests

An overnight sobriety checkpoint at 70th Street and Troost Avenue stopped 311 vehicles and resulted in 16 DUI arrest, Kansas City Police and Jackson County sheriff deputies said Saturday.

The checkpoint was run from 11 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday. In addition to the DUI arrests, there were seven charges for driving while suspended, 11 other traffic violations, one marijuana possession and one person was charged with hindering an officer. Six warrants also were issued.
