Man drowns while trying to pull boat out of Truman Lake

Updated: 2013-08-31T03:52:17Z

A 35-year-old man drowned in Truman Lake when he apparently had a medical emergency while he was preparing to pull his boat out of the water Thursday night.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said James Beason of Deepwater, Mo., was in his vehicle and backing a trailer down the boat ramp. He had a medical problem and became trapped when the vehicle and trailer entered the water.

A bystander managed to pull Beason out of the vehicle and place him in the boat. A state trooper performed CPR until an ambulance arrived. Beason was pronounced dead at a hospital.
