What are we missing?

Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s whirlwind Missouri visit may have left some people confused.

During his visit, the Republican urged the Missouri General Assembly to override Gov. Jay Nixon’s veto of a tax cut bill — and he said he was trying to lure Missouri businesses to Texas at the same time.

But one goal seems to contradict the other.

If the legislature overturns the veto, as Perry has suggested, there would presumably be less reason for businesses to move to Texas.

If he really wants Missouri corporations to head to Texas, wouldn’t he want the veto sustained?

Ditto for Florida Gov. Rick Scott, who wrote Missouri businesses, urging them to come to his state — while taking a swipe at the veto.
