Nixon picks John Modest Miles for Sports Authority

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed John Modest Miles of Kansas City to the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority.

Miles, the pastor of Morning Star Baptist Church since 1987, had been serving on the board on an interim basis.

The Jackson County Sports Complex Authority oversees the maintenance and operation of the Harry S. Truman Sports Complex.

Miles is a member of the National Baptist Convention and Congress of Christian Education, a board member of the Western Baptist Bible College, a lecturer for the Kansas City Police Academy, and a board member of the One Church/One Child Adoption Program.

The governor appointed him for a term ending July 15, 2018.
