Former Chiefs quarterback Ricky Stanzi didn’t stay unemployed for long. Stanzi, released by the Chiefs last weekend, was claimed on waivers Tuesday by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jaguars are shorthanded at quarterback because starter Blaine Gabbert is out because of a thumb injury but is expected to return for the regular-season opener, which just happens to be against the Chiefs.

Stanzi, who did not appear in a game in two seasons with the Chiefs, may not contribute to the Jaguars on the field, but he can clue the Jacksonville coaching staff on the Chiefs’ offensive plans.
