Grandview fire starts in one house and hops to another

Updated: 2013-08-27T21:46:59Z

A fast-moving fire destroyed a Grandview residence and caused moderate damage to the exterior of a neighboring house, according to fire officials.

The blaze at a residence in the 12900 block of Craig Avenue was reported just before 1 p.m. The residence was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived. Several persons inside the residence escaped without injuries. The fire had spread to an adjacent residence, where no one was home.

Firefighters were able to extinguish both fires. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates were immediately available.

Because of the heat, fire crews from Belton and Kansas City were summoned to assist, fire officials said.
