Dickey’s Barbecue Pit plans to open a new Lee’s Summit location this week.

The restaurant, in SummitWoods Crossing at 1736 N.W. Chipman Road, is scheduled to open at 11 a.m. Aug. 29 and the first 50 dine-in customers will receive a $50 Dickey’s gift card. On Friday it will have a day of giveaways including a drawing for a $500 Dickey’s gift card and it will have $2 barbecue sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Dickey’s was founded in 1941 and now has more than 300 locations in 40 states, including one in Overland Park. The chain offers “original Texas-style barbecue” and they said they slow smoke their meats on-site at each restaurant.

Market researchers Technomic Inc. recently named Dickey’s the country’s fastest growing restaurant chain among chains having sales of more than $200 million.
