After a terrible week for the Royals, the good news is they only dropped one game in the wild-card standings.

Of course, the bad news is at this time of year, teams have to be gaining in the standings. Losing ground has to stop.

Here’s what the week ahead looks like in the wild-card chase.

RAYS (74-54)

Playoff odds: 94.3 percent

Last 10: 7-3

Who’s hot: In his last six games, Evan Longoria has a 1.265 OPS over the last week.

This week: 1 at Royals, 3 vs. Angels, 3 at Angels

Good for Royals: They’ll be logging a lot of miles this week, coming to KC, going home, then heading to the West Coast.

Bad for Royals: The Rays have won their last four series.

A’S (72-57)

Playoff odds: 68.3 percent

Last 10: 5-5

Who’s hot: Jed Lowrie is hitting .375 over the last week.

This week: 4 at Tigers, 3 vs. Rays

Good for Royals: Their next 10 games are against the Tigers, Rays and Rangers.

Bad for Royals: The A’s are creeping up on the Royals for team ERA.

INDIANS (71-59, 1.5 GB)

Playoff odds: 25.4 percent

Last 10: 7-3

Who’s hot: Yan Gomes is batting .351 in his last 18 games.

This week: 3 at Braves, 3 at Tigers

Good for Royals: They are only 13th in runs scored in August.

Bad for Royals: Despite a tough week ahead, they still have the easiest schedule from here on out.

ORIOLES (70-59, 2 GB)

Playoff odds: 16.9 percent

Last 10: 5-5

Who’s hot: Adam Jones has 28 RBIs since the All-Star break.

This week: 3 at Red Sox, 3 at Yankees

Good for Royals: Baltimore has a 4.19 ERA on the road this season.

Bad for Royals: The Orioles have the best fielding percentage in the AL (.992).

YANKEES (69-61, 3.5 GB)

Playoff odds: 6.6 percent

Last 10: 7-3

Who’s hot: Robinson Cano is hitting .414 with six RBIs in his last seven games.

This week: 3 at Blue Jays, 3 vs. Orioles

Good for Royals: The Yankees have hit the fewest home runs in the AL since the All-Star break (27)

Bad for Royals: They jumped the Royals in the wild-card standings.

ROYALS (65-64, 7 GB)

Playoff odds: 0.5 percent

Last 10: 3-7

Who’s hot: DH Billy Butler is hitting .336 since the All-Star break.

This week: 1 vs. Rays, 3 at Twins, 3 at Blue Jays
