— Former Kansas quarterback Dayne Crist is, at least for the moment, back with an NFL team.

The Baltimore Ravens signed Crist on Sunday after backup Tyrod Taylor showed concussion symptoms stemming from a head injury suffered in the team’s preseason game against the Carolina Panthers last Thursday.

Crist, who had a brief tryout with the Chiefs earlier this summer, was originally picked up by the Ravens in mid May. He lasted less than a month on the roster, but the Ravens will likely need some added quarterback depth in their final preseason game against St. Louis.

Reigning Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco could sit the entire game, and the only other healthy quarterback on the roster is Caleb Hanie.

Crist, an undrafted rookie who began his college career at Notre Dame, completed just 47.7 percent of his passes last season, throwing for 1,313 yards, four touchdowns and nine interceptions in his one season at Kansas. He was replaced by redshirt freshman Michael Cummings midway through the season.
