Teams from the Big 12 and Southeastern Conference will meet in the Liberty Bowl starting in 2014.

The bowl game in Memphis will have the Big 12’s fourth selection after the College Football Playoff teams are announced.
Last season, Iowa State played in the Liberty Bowl, falling to Tulsa. The Cyclones were selected because the SEC didn’t have enough teams to fill all of its contracted bowls.
The SEC has had an agreement with the Liberty Bowl since 2006. The Big 12’s contract is for six years.
Starting next year, the Big 12 and SEC champions are set to meet in the Sugar Bowl when that game is not a national semifinal. The leagues also will be represented in the Texas Bowl.
